The latest method in permanent hair removal is called Ellipse Light

Fast, safe and almost painlessly the Ellipse System works with visible light of a flashlamp to remove unwanted hair on any part of the body within a few minutes.

What is the Ellipse Light System?

The Ellipse Light is not a laser. It is a second generation Intense Pulsed Light System (l²PL),

that uses broad-spectrum visible light that totally destroys hairs inside the follicle.

How does the Ellipse work?

The visible light of the flashlamp is guided via a glass prism to the hairy body area.

Hair contains pigment (melanin) that absorbs light and converts this into heat.

This heat is conducted through the hair into the hair follicle.

This is destroyed and unable to produce a new hair.

To be certain of an optimal light transmission in the hair, use is made of a thin layer of gel,

which is applied onto the areas to be treated.

Can all hair be treated?

Because treatment is based on the pigment of hair, melanin, treatment will be most effective on dark hair.

The lighter the skin, the bigger the difference between hair and skin tone.

This makes treatment easier.

The Ellipse Light is pre-programmed for different hair and skin colours,

so that this is adapted to the right treatment for an optimal result.

How long does the treatment take?

The Ellipse Light applicator measures 1 cm by 5 cm,

so that a large number of hairs within this area can be treated quickly.

A facial treatment takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes.

The back or both legs require between 60 to 120 minutes of treatment time

Is it painful?

No, it is unnecessary to anaesthetize the area.

During treatment a prickling sensation is experienced.

Are there any special precautions that I should take before and/or after treatment?

It is important to stop tweezing or waxing hairs 4 weeks before treatment so

that there are as many hairs as possible inside the hair follicles that can be destroyed by the light.

It is wise to avoid sunbathing before and during the treatment period.

The melanin content in the skin will cause the skin to absorb the heat,

making treatment less effective.

In general a post-treatment is unnecessary but people with sensitive skin

will have to use a nourishing protective cream for a few days.

It is also recommended to avoid direct sunlight for a number of

weeks and/or to use a SPF20 sun protection cream during and after the treatment period.

How many treatments will I need?

Hair grows in a cycle. Hair follicles have a resting and a growth phase.

Only the follicles in the growth phase contain hairs that can be destroyed by the heat.

Hairs in the resting phase will first have to reach the growth phase before they are suitable for an Ellipse treatment.

Therefore it is important to repeat the treatments at intervals so that all hair follicles have reached the growth phase.

The length and the duration of the hair growth cycle depends upon a number

of factors such as skin type, hair density, hormonal balance, age.

Normally, 5 to 7 treatments will be needed with intervals between the treatments of 1 to 3 months.

Which results can I expect from the Ellipse Light system?

Clinical studies have shown that 8 months after treatment 70% of all clients had a hair growth reduction of 75-100%.
